Google has finally updated a change on Thursday that makes it a bit more clear what it button does. Now, if you scroll over the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button, it will initiate a slot machine-like effect and spins a random new "feeling" out of eight options, such as playful or puzzled. With this update, each new feeling will bring up different Google product.

Google is making changes to its sometimes useful "I'm feeling lucky" buttonand turning it into a ever-changing advertisement for Google services, projects, and a few fun Easter Eggs.

I'm Feeling the Results

I gave the new "I'm Feeling…" button a spin to see what kind of results it would give me. Clicking on the "I'm Feeling Wonderful" button took me to theGoogle World Wonders project, which lets you tour 132 historic sites in 18 countries around the world via Street View. They were about values. At Apple, we value originality and innovation and pour our lives into making the best products on earth. We make these products to delight our customers, not for our competitors to flagrantly copy. We applaud the courtfor finding Samsung's behaviorwillful and for sending a loud and clear message that stealing isn't right.

Today's verdict should not be viewed as a win for Apple, but as a loss for the American consumer. It will lead to fewer choices, less innovation, and potentially higher prices. It is unfortunate that patent law can be manipulated to give one company a monopoly over rectangles with rounded corners, or technology that is being improved every day by Samsung and other companies. Consumers have the right to choices, and they know what they are buying when they purchase Samsung products. This is not the final word in this case or in battles being waged in courts and tribunals around the world, some of which have already rejected many of Apple's claims. Samsung will continue to innovate and offer choices for the consumer.

Samsung has emerged as one of Apple's biggest rivals and has overtaken as the leading smartphone maker. Samsung's Galaxy line of phones run on Android, a mobile operating system that Google Inc. has given out for free to Samsung and other phone makers.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has taken legal action to ensure Apple makes consumers aware its third-generation iPad cannot connect to a 4G mobile data network in Australia due to technical incompatibility.

On 6 December 2011, a first-instance judgment was passed on the dispute over trademark ownership of iPad. Shenzhen Intermediate People's Court ruled that it could not be established that the iPad trademark belonged to US Apple and IP Application Development Co., Ltd (IP Application).(via)

Wei Guan Corp., the Hong Kong-listed technology company sued Apple for a trademark infringement in Shanghai.

AUTHORITIES are removing iPads from the stores in Shijiazhuang, the capital of Hebei Province after the Shenzhen Intermediate People's Court ruled that Apple Inc has violated the trademark of Shenzhen-based Weiguan Science and Technology Co Ltd.

Some electronics stores in Shijiazhuang have stopped selling iPads because the Shijiazhuang Industrial and Commercial Administration sealed their stocks of iPads after the court verdict.

Officials said they received a lawyer's letter from Weiguan, saying Apple's trademark iPad violated its rights. After verifying the authenticity of the information, the officials began to take action.

Under the Chinese law, products involved in trademark violation should be confiscated and Apple Inc could be fined up to five times of its profit made from selling iPads.

Officials said they are still checking the quantities of iPads sold in Shijiazhuang.(via)

Apple CEO Tim Cook donates $100 million to charity

The Wall Street Journal reports that data from executive compensation tracking firm Equilar shows Apple CEO Tim Cook set to see a major windfall during the first quarter of 2012 with the vesting of two separate restricted stock unit grants currently valued at nearly $100 million.

Apple's C.E.O. Tim Cook has donated $100 million to two separate organizations: $50 million to Stanford's hospital and another $50 million to Project Red. Stanford has already used some of the money to expand their existing facility and about $25 million for a new children's hospital. Bravo Tim Cook.

According to the report, about $25 million of the donation from the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) CEO has been used by Stanford's hospitals for building a new main block and $25 million for a new children's hospital.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) shares were at 455.12 at the end of the last day's trading. There's been a 14.8% movement in the stock price over the past 3 months.

The vesting stock is separate from an award of one million share units given to Cook as he officially took on the role of CEO. That grant is worth $415 million at today's stock price, but will not vest for a number of years. Cook will receive half of the shares in 2016 and the remainder in 2021, with both events contingent upon Cook remaining CEO of Apple.

This comes days after fallout from an investigative article in The New York Times about hazardous working conditions in a Chinese factory that manufactures Apple iPads. Cook responded to the article saying, "We care about every worker in our worldwide supply chain. Any accident is deeply troubling, and any issue with working conditions is cause for concern. Any suggestion that we don't care is patently false and offensive to us."
