Trademark Application Filed:Apple Peel 520

GoSolarUSA filed the trademark application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on Tuesday.  Right now GoSolarUSA is indicating that their goal is to have the ApplePeel 520 productized and ready to go in the U.S. in time for Christmas.

Since we broke the news of the device coming to the U.S. a few months back the device has been referred to by many different names including the Peel, the Peel 520, and the Apple Peel 520. Filing of the trademark should end any confusion as to the proper spelling of the name of the product.

GoSolar noted that the new name “is proof that the ApplePeel 520 is proprietary, third-party technology”. It’s proof alright but more importantly it should keep them out of any legal hot water with Apple. The ApplePeel 520 is a sleeve that slips over Apple’s iPod Touch media player and adds the ability to make voice calls and send text messages, mimicking the functionality of the electronics giant’s more expensive iPhone. The device interfaces electronically with the Touch, turning the powerful media player into a cutting-edge smartphone.

This one was expected and should clarify any trademark issues that they might have had with Apple Corp.  GoSolarUSA announced today that the company has filed a trademark application for “ApplePeel 520,” the new name of GSLO’s groundbreaking iPod smartphone accessory.
