My iPod is set to United States / English

I can send and receive Phone calls fine.
I can send text messages fine.

But when I receive messages, it is in Chinese characters.
How do I fix this? Or do I have to wait for an update?

I have the same problem, and I am in the US.
I think it only happens on longer text messages. Most messages I have gotten dont have the issue, every time it occured I got a long text message.

A:

I'm getting it on short one-word messages too. Words like "test" come out in Chinese characters. Messages are sent from an iPhone 4 and received on the Apple Peel in Chinese characters.

This happens after the recent update too.

Apple Peel 520 Screen Light Up When Getting A Call

I just discovered this and thought I would share. If you install Insomnia from Cydia, the screen will light up when receiving calls. With both this and the backgrounder trick I found in another thread (install Backgrounder, add overrides for the calling and texting apps, set backgrounding to off), as long as the peel itself doesn't turn off you should always be able to receive calls.

Insomnia stops the ipod from fully going into sleep mode when you press the lock switch. Backgrounder stops the apps from backgrounding.

If your on OS 4.X, try opening the calling app, go back to the home screen and then lock it. If you call it, it will ring but the screen will stay off. If you install these apps, if you call it the screen will light up and you will be able to accept or decline the call.

The only drawback is that battery life is slightly decreased

Now can instantly pickup calls instead of pressing the square and waiting for screen to lit. Will test and see how it affects the battery.

i think its software problem... as the ipod touch detects the peel 520 as an external accessory (for example if i hook my ipod touch onto my car's stereo system it'll show the same problem BUT i can adjust the volume from the car's stereo system)

Some Important information for Singapore/English users:

1. Please add +65 before your hp number when send out sms in YsSMS.

2. M1 card is not supported because of it's PUK2 security lock: you can check your SIM card in a normal hp, change the PIN2, if it pop up it is forbidden by the service provider then your SIM card can not be used in this current Apple Peel 520.

1) Go settings, check you have green light?

2) Is ur SIM card got SIM lock password? You need to disable using another phone, then put back into Peel.

3) If still cannot, try another SIM card.

Are you sure you can make 112 phone call?
If yes, there seems no solution but exchange a new Apple Peel.
